There is always plenty of debate about how to charge BYD LFP Blade Batteries, so I logged cell voltages and SOH via an OBD2 BLE dongle + Car Scanner over 12,000 km Owner Telemetry.

Why LFP Chemistry Needs Periodic 100% Top-Balancing:

    1. Unlike NMC cells, LiFePO4 (LFP) has a very flat voltage curve (~3.25V to 3.33V per cell) between 15% and 90% SOC.
    2. The BMS only gets a precise top-reference calibration when individual cells hit the 3.60V–3.65V knee at 100% SOC.
    3. Charging to 100% once a week (and letting the AC wallbox finish cell balancing for 20 minutes after reaching 100%) keeps cell delta under 8 mV and preserves 98%+ SOH long term.

@LachlanThomas Great data! My cell delta was 24 mV after three weeks of partial solar-only top-ups, and one overnight 7kW charge to 100% brought cell delta right back down to 6 mV.

@Andrew_NovatedAU Also worth noting: charging to 100% right before a morning commute means the car doesn't sit at high voltage in the sun for days—best of both worlds.

@Matilda_UrbanEV Which OBD2 adapter are you using? The Vgate iCar Pro BLE 4.0 works flawlessly with the BYD e-Platform 3.0 profile in Car Scanner.

@paul_h_goldcoast LFP cycle life is rated at 3,000+ cycles—at 400 km per cycle, the battery pack will easily outlast the chassis!

My experience has been almost identical over the past 4 months. Zero rattles in the cabin so far, and the 360-degree camera clarity at night is still the best in its price bracket.
