Two quick quality-of-life tips for BYD Seal owners, especially those of us dealing with 38°C–42°C summers in Australia:

BYD Seal Panorama Roof Sunshade Tips for 40°C Aussie Summers & Fixing the B-Pillar / Seatbelt Trim Rattle

    1. Fixing the Minor Tick/Rattle Near the Driver's Ear (B-Pillar Trim)

A few of us noticed a faint plastic ticking sound right next to the driver's right ear over rough coarse-chip roads.

    • The Culprit: It's not inside the door — it's the sliding seatbelt height adjuster button trim on the upper B-pillar rubbing slightly against the B-pillar backing plate when the passenger seatbelt isn't clipped in, OR the passenger seatbelt buckle tapping the hard plastic seat base bolster!
    • The 2-Minute Fix:
      1. Slide a tiny 2cm strip of 1mm automotive Tesa fleece harness tape behind the top edge of the B-pillar seatbelt slider trim.
      2. Put a $6 silicone cover (or felt pad) on the front passenger seatbelt buckle tongue so it doesn't clack against the B-pillar plastic when driving solo. Dead silent afterwards!

    2. Best Glass Roof Sunshade for Summer

The factory clip-in mesh shade works well up to ~30°C, but in 40°C Perth/Adelaide/Brisbane sun, upgrading to a dual-layer silver-coated magnetic foldable roof shade (with ice-crystal reflective backing) drops cabin head-level radiant heat by 8°C–10°C and cuts AC power draw by ~400W.

Mate, thank you!! I spent two weeks thinking that faint click over bumps was coming from the rear parcel shelf, and it turned out to be the unbuckled front passenger seatbelt tongue tapping the B-pillar trim! Slipped it over the seat bolster and the cabin is tomb-silent again.

Once you go instant electric torque, there is no going back.

Seconding the silver-backed magnetic two-piece sunshade over the one-piece factory mesh! The two-piece split design doesn't sag in the middle at all and clips straight into the headliner gap in 30 seconds.

Also grab the deep centre-console organiser tray and the under-console rubber mat while you're ordering accessories. The lower pass-through storage bin under the wireless phone chargers is huge, and a compartmentalised divider stops sunglasses and keys sliding around in corners.

For UK/Irish owners: we only need the roof shade for about 3 weeks in July, haha — the silver low-E coating on the Seal's panoramic glass actually keeps UV and glare out really well for 11 months of the year in Dublin!

Another neat accessory I fitted last week (Oct 2026): the frunk (front boot) gas-strut hydraulic lift kit and waterproof frunk liner bag. Takes 10 minutes to bolt on and makes opening the 53L front boot for charging cables a one-handed job.

Great write-up! If anyone is on the fence, definitely take a 45-minute test drive on coarse-chip highway tarmac first — the acoustic glass makes a bigger difference than the spec sheet suggests.

I ran the exact same test last month on a rainy weekend trip. Regen braking in High mode remained super predictable, and the LFP pack voltage delta stayed under 12 mV on my OBD2 scanner.
