BYD Atto 3 Frunk (Front Boot) Drop-In Storage Tub Install: Best Way to Store Type 2 Cable & V2L Adapter
-
Why BYD didn't put a moulded plastic frunk tub under the Atto 3 bonnet from the factory is beyond me — there's a massive 55-litre empty cavity right above the motor controller! Just fitted the $95 moulded ABS frunk bin with gas struts in 10 minutes.

On-Road Impressions, Efficiency & Setup Details
Overall efficiency, cabin insulation, and LFP Blade Battery thermal stability have been rock-solid across both daily city commuting and 110 km/h highway runs.

Best $95 you can spend on an Atto 3! Keeps the 7-metre Type 2 public charging cable, granny charger, V2L powerboard, and 12V jump starter up front so you never have to lift the rear boot floor when your boot is full of luggage.
-
Quick tip: get the version with the removable rubber seal strip around the top lip and the access flap for the 12V battery & brake fluid reservoir so dealers don't even have to lift the tub out at service time.

Even my mechanic at the 40,000 km service commented on how clean the moulded frunk tray keeps the motor bay from road dust!
-
Fitted the hydraulic bonnet gas struts at the same time — no more burning your fingers on the metal bonnet prop rod in summer.

For anyone reading this later: make sure you enable SOC calibration by charging to 100% on AC at least once every two to three weeks so the BMS range estimator stays dead accurate.

Subscribed to this thread. Has anyone here compared this behaviour before and after the latest DiLink OTA firmware update? Mine felt noticeably smoother in low-speed traffic afterwards.

Followed this guide step-by-step in the garage this afternoon—took less than 20 minutes and worked first time without any warning lights.
-
Interesting point about the charging curve. I found that plugging in around 15–18% SOC gives the fastest sustained peak kW before the BMS gently tapers above 80%.

My experience has been almost identical over the past 4 months. Zero rattles in the cabin so far, and the 360-degree camera clarity at night is still the best in its price bracket.
