Because BYD uses soft-touch polyurethane vegan leather (synthetic Nappa) across the Shark 6, Sealion 6/7, Seal, Atto 3, and Dolphin, using harsh solvent-based leather conditioners or magic erasers can strip the matte factory topcoat.

Here is the safe interior & exterior maintenance routine I've used to keep our Seal and Atto 3 looking showroom-fresh:

1. Vegan Leather Seats & Steering Wheel (Every 6–8 Weeks)

• Cleaner: pH-neutral interior foaming cleaner (Gyeon Q²M VinylCleaner or Bowden's Own Fabra Cadabra / Obssession) with a soft horsehair brush.
• Protectant: Gyeon Q² LeatherShield or 303 Aerospace Protectant (matte UV block, zero greasy shine, prevents blue denim dye transfer on light interiors).

2. Piano Black Centre Console Trim

• Apply a pre-cut TPU self-healing PPF kit ($35 on AliExpress/Amazon) in week one, or use a plush 450 GSM edgeless microfibre with rinseless wash (ONR) so it never gets swirl marks.

3. 5-Minute DIY CN95 / HEPA Cabin Air Filter Swap

• Unclip the glovebox damper arm on the left, squeeze the two side tabs, pop off the rectangular filter cover, and slide in a carbon-activated CN95 filter (arrow pointing DOWN for airflow). Saves $85 at dealer servicing!

If anyone is on the fence between Standard Range and Extended Range used Atto 3s: both use the exact same LFP Blade chemistry, just 49.9 kWh vs 60.5 kWh!

Just tested the October 2026 CarScanner update on my BYD Shark 6 — it now decodes both the front 170kW and rear 150kW motor inverter temperatures plus DMO generator RPM and fuel trim!

Floor footprint is almost identical, and because the Sealion 6 has a flat rear floor with zero transmission tunnel hump in the second row, fitting three kids or two ISOFIX child seats in the back is actually roomier.

The 3-finger swipe up/down for temperature and left/right for fan speed while inside full-screen Apple CarPlay is hands-down the best UI update BYD has pushed. Once you get the muscle memory, you can adjust the AC without even looking at the screen.
