First Time Driving a BYD Courtesy Car – Stalk Column Shifter Thoughts

My daily driver is in the shop and I just had a BYD courtesy car dropped off for a few days. Right off the bat, I was completely caught off guard by the gear selector lever being placed on the right-hand steering column stalk where the wiper controls normally live!
It took me a good few minutes to realize where the drive modes were located, plus finding the start button down on the lower console layout and hunting for the audio volume control. Is this column-mounted shifter standard across all new BYD models now?

It frees up massive amounts of storage space in the center console area. As a delivery driver using Mercedes vans with this layout, it's actually brilliant.

Volume controls are usually located on the left side of the steering wheel scroll wheel, as well as a roller switch near the start button on the center console!

Haha, standard reaction for first-timers! You'll probably turn your wipers on by mistake a couple of times before you return the keys.
