There aren't many sensibly priced 3-row electric MPVs on the market, so I spent some time looking over the BYD eMax 7 (M6) 6-seater and 7-seater specifications:

Has anyone test driven the 6/7-Seater BYD eMax 7 (M6) Electric MPV yet? Looks super practical for families

    1. Key Highlights & What Stood Out to Me

Families and fleet operators looking for a practical 3-row electric people-mover now have a dedicated option: the BYD eMax 7 (badged M6 in select RHD markets).

    • Available with 55.4 kWh (420 km) and 71.8 kWh (530 km) Blade Battery options.
    • Choice of 6-seater (2+2+2 ventilated captain's chairs) or 7-seater (2+3+2 family bench) configurations with V2L and panoramic glass roof.

    2. Closer Look at the Specs & Hardware Packaging

Technical Parameter Official BYD Specification & Benchmark
Structural Integration Cell-to-Body (CTB) Honeycomb Blade Battery Floor (40,500 Nm/deg)
    Power Electronics 800V / 1,000V High-Voltage Silicon-Carbide (SiC) Architecture
    ADAS Sensor Fusion DiPilot 100/300 Tri-Camera + 5x Millimeter-Wave Radars
Thermal Management Direct-Refrigerant Heat Pump (-30°C to +45°C Operating Range)

    3. 6-Seater Captain’s Chairs vs 7-Seater Bench — Which Layout Would You Pick?

For families with 2 or 3 kids, does the 6-seater layout with the walk-through middle aisle beat the traditional 7-seater bench?

There has been a massive gap in the EV market for an affordable 6/7-seater family MPV that doesn't cost $100,000—the eMax 7 nails it.

@Claire_KentEV That 6-seater version with second-row captain's chairs and flat walk-through aisle to the third row is super comfortable for grandparents and kids.

@Hendrik_NL_EV 71.8 kWh LFP Blade pack gives plenty of real-world highway range for airport runs and family holidays.

Interesting point about the charging curve. I found that plugging in around 15–18% SOC gives the fastest sustained peak kW before the BMS gently tapers above 80%.

Can confirm the latest DiLink OTA firmware smoothed out the power delivery curve and improved wireless CarPlay reconnection speed noticeably.

Completely agree on the practical usability. Being able to run a 2,000W induction stove and espresso maker off the V2L socket while only dropping 3% SOC over an afternoon is a game changer.

Thanks for sharing the real-world numbers! Dealers rarely explain this clearly during handover, so having verified owner telemetry on the forum saves everyone a lot of guesswork.
