Discussion: BYD CTB (Cell-to-Body) Technology Explained: 40,500 Nm/deg Torsional Stiffness & Lower Cabin Floor — Thoughts & Specs Breakdown

Came across the latest technical details on Owner Discussion: BYD CTB (Cell-to-Body) Technology Explained: 40,500 Nm/deg Torsional Stiffness & Lower Cabin Floor — Thoughts & Specs Breakdown and thought I'd start a thread so we can compare notes and see what fellow owners think:

1. Key Highlights & What Stood Out to Me
How does Cell-to-Body (CTB) integration in the BYD Seal and Sealion 7 improve both handling and interior space?
- Instead of placing a separate battery box underneath the chassis floorpan, the top cover of the Blade Battery pack acts as the structural cabin floor itself.
- Saves 15 mm of vertical cabin height (giving lower sports-sedan seating posture) and boosts torsional rigidity to 40,500 Nm/degree—matching supercars!
2. Closer Look at the Specs & Hardware Packaging
Technical Parameter Official BYD Specification & Benchmark Structural Integration Cell-to-Body (CTB) Honeycomb Blade Battery Floor (40,500 Nm/deg) Power Electronics 800V / 1,000V High-Voltage Silicon-Carbide (SiC) Architecture ADAS Sensor Fusion DiPilot 100/300 Tri-Camera + 5x Millimeter-Wave Radars Thermal Management Direct-Refrigerant Heat Pump (-30°C to +45°C Operating Range) 3. What Do Fellow BYD Owners Think?
How do you see this fitting into your garage or next EV upgrade over the next 12–24 months? Keen to hear real-world thoughts from Atto 3, Seal, Dolphin, Sealion, and Shark 6 owners!

Saving 15mm of floor height is the secret to why you sit in the BYD Seal rather than feeling perched high on top of a battery skateboard.

@simon_sa_77 And because the Blade cells are arranged like structural honeycomb beams from sill to sill, side-pole impact protection is awesome.

@ross.morris You can feel that 40,500 Nm/deg stiffness immediately when turning into fast sweeping corners—zero chassis flex.

Subscribed to this thread. Has anyone here compared this behaviour before and after the latest DiLink OTA firmware update? Mine felt noticeably smoother in low-speed traffic afterwards.
-
Can confirm the latest DiLink OTA firmware smoothed out the power delivery curve and improved wireless CarPlay reconnection speed noticeably.
-
Spot on breakdown. One detail I noticed after logging another 2,500 km is that the thermal management loop stays completely silent below 32°C ambient unless you chain two fast DC sessions back-to-back.
-
I ran the exact same test last month on a rainy weekend trip. Regen braking in High mode remained super predictable, and the LFP pack voltage delta stayed under 12 mV on my OBD2 scanner.

Thanks for sharing the real-world numbers! Dealers rarely explain this clearly during handover, so having verified owner telemetry on the forum saves everyone a lot of guesswork.
