Executive Summary & Key Takeaways: BYD's flagship engineering division has completed official high-speed and Nürburgring Nordschleife testing with the 1,300 hp (960 kW) Yangwang U9 Quad-Motor Electric Supercar, clocking a verified 391.94 km/h (243.5 mph) top speed and a 7:17.900 Nürburgring lap time!

    BYD Yangwang U9 & e⁴ Quad-Motor Platform Sets 391.94 km/h Record & Nürburgring 7:17.900 Lap

    1. Platform Engineering & Core Hardware Breakdown

Figure 1: Denza Z9 GT & Luxury Lineup — showcasing BYD’s flagship e³ tri-motor torque vectoring and active rear-wheel steering.

    • Powered by an 80 kWh high-discharge LFP Blade Battery proving that lithium-iron-phosphate chemistry can sustain extreme continuous track discharge and 500 kW dual-gun DC fast charging.
    • Features DiSus-X active hydraulic body control capable of independent four-wheel vertical, pitch, and roll stabilization in milliseconds.

    2. Technical Specifications & Architecture Comparison

    Figure 2: Off-Road & Hydraulic Control: Denza B5 / B8 body-on-frame DMO 4x4 chassis equipped with DiSus-P active hydraulic suspension.

Below is the complete engineering and specification breakdown across the export powertrain and chassis architecture:

Technical Parameter Official BYD Specification & Benchmark
    Flagship Platforms e³ Tri-Motor / e⁴ Quad-Motor & DMO 4x4 Super Hybrid
Active Suspension Suite DiSus-C (Damping), DiSus-A (Air) & DiSus-P (Hydraulic)
Rear-Axle Steering Up to ±10° Counter-Phase Steering (4.62m Turning Radius)
Peak System Power 505 kW to 710 kW (965 hp) with Millisecond Torque Vectoring

    3. Real-World Ownership Impact, Safety & Regional Availability

From a long-term ownership perspective, the combination of Cobalt-Free LFP Blade Battery chemistry, Cell-to-Body (CTB) / Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) structural rigidity, and over-the-air (DiLink OTA) software refinement ensures strong residual values and low scheduled maintenance costs across both right-hand-drive (ANZ/UK) and European markets.

Doing 391.94 km/h and lapping the Nürburgring in 7:17 using an LFP Blade Battery completely shatters the old myth that LFP is only for economy commuter cars!

And the best part is how the thermal management and SiC inverter tech from Yangwang trickles straight down into the Seal, Sealion 7, and Denza Z9 GT.

Saw the Yangwang U8 and U9 demonstration at Goodwood Festival of Speed—watching a 1,300 hp EV tank-turn and dance on DiSus-X hydraulics in person was surreal.

Proves how far ahead BYD's in-house motor and power electronics engineering has moved in just three years.

Good catch on those specifications. I checked the service manual torque specs and fuse layout over the weekend and everything matches what you outlined here.

Subscribed to this thread. Has anyone here compared this behaviour before and after the latest DiLink OTA firmware update? Mine felt noticeably smoother in low-speed traffic afterwards.

Completely agree on the practical usability. Being able to run a 2,000W induction stove and espresso maker off the V2L socket while only dropping 3% SOC over an afternoon is a game changer.

Great write-up! If anyone is on the fence, definitely take a 45-minute test drive on coarse-chip highway tarmac first — the acoustic glass makes a bigger difference than the spec sheet suggests.
