Completed a 30,000 km High-Mileage Update interstate tour in our BYD Sealion 6 DM-i (18.3 kWh Blade Battery + Xiaoyun 1.5L/1.5T hybrid) testing Auto SOC vs Save SOC strategies.

BYD Sealion 6 (Seal U DM-i) Dynamic FWD vs Premium AWD: 1,050 km Highway Tank Test

Best Highway HEV + SOC Strategy:

    • Setting HEV Mode + Save SOC at 50% before entering 110 km/h highway stretches keeps the battery in its peak efficiency window and prevents high-RPM generator recovery on steep climbs.
    • Fuel Consumption: Averaged 4.7 L/100km on the Dynamic FWD (and 5.6 L/100km on the twin-motor Premium AWD).
    • 18 kW DC Fast Charging + 6kW V2L: Having CCS2 DC fast charging on a PHEV means a 25-minute lunch stop refills the battery from 25% to 80% for pure EV city driving.

@toby_r_uk Setting HEV + 50% Save SOC at the start of a highway trip is the number-one tip every new Sealion 6 owner needs to know—keeps the cabin whisper quiet on hills!

Charging between 2am and 6am on smart night rate

@ryan_o_dublin We go 6 to 8 weeks between petrol station visits because our 55 km daily school and work run is 100% pure EV charged off our garage wallbox.

charging off rooftop solar whenever the sun decides to show up ☀️
