Public DC Rapid Charging Etiquette & Fastest Networks for BYD in 2026 (Evie / Chargefox / Ampol AU vs Ionity / Gridserve UK)
-
Which public DC fast-charging networks have given you the most reliable first-time plug-and-charge handshake with your BYD in 2025/2026?
On-Road Impressions, Efficiency & Setup Details
Overall efficiency, cabin insulation, and LFP Blade Battery thermal stability have been rock-solid across both daily city commuting and 110 km/h highway runs.

In Australia, Evie Networks (350kW Tritium PKM150/RTM units) with Autocharge enabled in the Evie app is hands-down the best experience. You literally pull up, plug the CCS2 gun into your BYD, and within 8 seconds it recognises your car's MAC address and starts charging at full speed — no app or RFID card needed!

In the UK, Ionity (via the Octopus Electroverse app for 8% discount) and Gridserve Electric Forecourts have been 100% reliable on my BYD Seal. Avoid older 50kW BP Pulse units if there's an Ionity or Osprey hub nearby.

One tip on heavy liquid-cooled 350kW CCS2 cables (like Kempower and Tritium): hold the heavy CCS2 handle upwards with your hand for 4 seconds after clicking it into the BYD charge port until you hear the locking pin engage! If you let a heavy cable sag downwards during handshake, the top CP/PP communication pins can lose contact and throw a handshake error.

My experience has been almost identical over the past 4 months. Zero rattles in the cabin so far, and the 360-degree camera clarity at night is still the best in its price bracket.

Spot on breakdown. One detail I noticed after logging another 2,500 km is that the thermal management loop stays completely silent below 32°C ambient unless you chain two fast DC sessions back-to-back.

Spot on regarding cold tyre pressures and regenerative braking calibration—smooths out low-speed town driving immediately.
