BYD Dolphin Winter Pre-Heating & Windscreen Demisting Tips (UK / NZ Frosty Mornings)
-
For anyone going through their first frosty winter with a BYD Dolphin: what's your routine for clearing ice off the windscreen and stop-start demisting without killing efficiency?

On-Road Impressions, Efficiency & Setup Details
Overall efficiency, cabin insulation, and LFP Blade Battery thermal stability have been rock-solid across both daily city commuting and 110 km/h highway runs.

In the BYD App, set a Scheduled Climate Prep for 7:35 AM while the car is still plugged into your home wallbox! That way the heat pump and front windscreen defroster pull the initial 2.5 kW warm-up burst straight from the mains grid instead of your battery, and you step into a toasty 21°C car with zero ice scraping.

Also make sure Auto Anti-Fogging is toggled ON under Climate Settings → Air Purification/Defogging on the DiLink screen. It uses the humidity sensor by the rear-view mirror to crack fresh air open before the glass ever mists up.
-
Cleaning the inside of the windscreen with isopropyl alcohol + a waffle-weave microfibre cloth once a month stops condensation clinging to the glass on damp British mornings.

For anyone reading this later: make sure you enable SOC calibration by charging to 100% on AC at least once every two to three weeks so the BMS range estimator stays dead accurate.
-
Completely agree on the practical usability. Being able to run a 2,000W induction stove and espresso maker off the V2L socket while only dropping 3% SOC over an afternoon is a game changer.
