New Zealand South Island Autumn Tour (2,100 km): Picton, Nelson, West Coast Glaciers & Milford Sound in Sealion 6
-
Completed an unforgettable 2,100 km South Island road trip from Picton through Nelson, Punakaiki, Franz Josef Glacier, Haast Pass, Te Anau, and Milford Sound in our BYD Sealion 6 Dynamic.

On-Road Impressions, Efficiency & Setup Details
- On the remote West Coast and Milford Sound highway (where fast chargers and petrol stations are 150+ km apart), having 1,050+ km combined DM-i range meant zero detours.
- Averaged 4.9 L/100km across the entire 2,100 km tour!

4.9 L/100km over Haast Pass and the Homer Tunnel to Milford Sound is phenomenal fuel economy.

@harry.cooper Going down from the Homer Tunnel into Milford Sound must have regenerated a huge chunk of battery!

@JulianE_SA Regenerated 22% SOC on that single descent from the tunnel down to the fjord—drove all the way back to Te Anau mostly on electric power!

Great real-world data. Having proper owner telemetry instead of brochure claims makes configuring the car so much easier.

Completely agree on the practical usability. Being able to run a 2,000W induction stove and espresso maker off the V2L socket while only dropping 3% SOC over an afternoon is a game changer.
