Crucial Warning: DO NOT Scotch-Lock Directly to the Tail Light Wires!

The Sealion 6 body control module (BCM) monitors LED tail light current draw in milliamps. If you splice a traditional passive trailer plug straight into the rear loom, it will throw a "Check Rear Lighting System" fault on the dash and disable Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).

Step-by-Step CAN-Safe Wiring Install

Use an Powered Smart Relay Module (e.g. Hayman Reese SmartClick or Jaeger 12V CAN module): The module only draws ~1mA signal sensing from the tail light wires and powers the trailer lights via a dedicated 15A fused 12V feed.

Where to get constant 12V power in the boot: No need to run a wire all the way to the front 12V battery! Behind the left-hand side boot trim panel (remove the 3x 10mm bolts and plastic cargo hook), there is the factory rear fuse carrier with a spare constant 12V stud rated at 30A.

Rear Parking Sensor Cut-Off: Connect the reed-switch wire from the 7-pin flat socket to the purple/white park-assist mute pin on the module so the rear sensors don't beep non-stop when reversing a box trailer or bike rack.
