I'm prepping my BYD Shark 6 Premium for a 5-day outback camping trip and trying to decide whether I even need a traditional 12V lithium auxiliary battery + DCDC charger in the tub.

With the 29.58 kWh Blade Battery feeding the three 240V V2L outlets in the tray (up to 6 kW total output), I tested running my 75L National Luna dual-zone fridge/freezer plus camp LED lighting directly off the tub 240V socket for 48 hours in the driveway:

Ambient temp: 31°C day / 18°C night

Total traction battery drop over 48 hours: Just 4% SOC (from 82% down to 78%).

Even if SOC drops to 20% at camp, the 1.5T DMO generator can top it back up in 25 minutes.

Has anyone else ditched the 12V secondary battery completely on their Shark 6, or is there a catch with leaving V2L active overnight in dusty conditions?

I noticed my Engel turned off on night one at Lake Eildon because I locked the ute with the key fob instead of setting Camp Mode on the screen.

Also worth adding a small rubber dust cap over the unused tub GPOs when driving corrugations—fine bull dust gets everywhere.

Using 4% SOC over 48 hours is spot-on with what I measured on Fraser Island last month.

One tip: make sure you enable "Extended Tub Power / Camp Mode" in the DiLink Energy Manager menu—otherwise the tub 240V inverter times out after 10 hours if the doors stay locked.
